I really had still to today, the best experience in a MMORPG in Metin2 (again.
That was one of the best things I've ever experienced in a MMORPG since today! Botting wasn't possible with that, so no lame action house with price limitation and 0 trading, it was just really good and fun. In the city were like hundreds of those individuals player shops and every one had to actively run through them like a flea market and you always tried to find a cheap gem.

Metin2 has a lot of things which other MMORPGs could take over, just like their Tower where you also tried to improve your gear and all until you could farm/run all Tower stages alone (which needed full undead rolled gear which was not easy + a own buff shaman twink), or something like a "active Marketplace" where you could opened your own Shop and sell all your grinded stuff for whatever price you want. (Which I also miss nowadays in a lot of games, leveling/upgrading your Skills not only gear) You also worked non stop around your gear to higher your damage against mobs or Metin stones to be better than others and to be the most efficient and that alone was really addictive and the whole way how gearing/progression was made (besides P2W) was pure satisfaction and exactly how I want Gearing up and overall Progression in a mmorpg. And besides "just" grinding mobs you also had "metin stones" (which was THE perfect grinding alternative) on all different levels to farm specific items like Ability books or Soulstones to level your skills to like "Master" (P). You always tried to improve your character so you were able to "pull" as many mobs (like 40+ at a time) as you can to level or farm faster. And Pve grinding/farming for example was not only grinding mobs, also not just fighting 1-3 groups at a time then again 1-3 groups or 1-3 mobs. The Pve concept was so simple just like the combat but it did its part the best combined with a really hardcore leveling concept from 1-99 (it took years(!!) to reach high level back in the days).

You always wanted to beat them in pve and it was really addictive and satisfying when you've finally rolled dream bonuses on a gear piece or when you've finally upgrade something to +9.
You can only understand when you have played it once and got hooked by the long term progression where you always like have a competition feeling, whether with friends or randoms when you see them running around and already leveling at xy place and already have a shiny +8+9 weapon even on low level. The Progression never felt pointless in any way like BDO nowadays for example,Metin did/does it perfectly. The combat will always be shit for me.Īnyways besides the hardcore P2W concept of Metin2, a lot of people underestimate the simplistic, but soo good, PvE concept of that game. I still can't stand WoW longer than 5min now with almost 25. (apart from the P2W shit, which no one cared about to that time with 14 or something). Metin2 was my "vanilla WoW" and I don't regret it since today.
